I have university questions about med school. Please help?
I am a student from a Central European country, Poland, which now belongs to the EU. I study in the IB system and I'm aiming for studying at an American university, preferably Ivy League. My questions are: 1) Do I have a chance of getting in? I have always had very good results academically. I finished my freshmen year with a 6.1 average out of possible 7.0. I did very good in my exams, scoring 5/6 and 6/6 in every of them except one where I had 4/6. I got awards for outstanding achievement in mathematics, art and humanities. I participated in three after-school activities and have a lot of interests like painting, writing, traveling, windsurfing and others. I plan on getting even higher results academically in my sophomore year, also participating in more after-school activities and doing MUN to widen the range of my interests. I've also had a quite interesting storyline of life. 2) What are the financial policies of Ivy League universities? I heard that Ivy League colleges first accept the student, and then they worry about their finances, and that many students' tuition is covered entirely by the school. Is this true? How does it work? 3) Which of the Ivy League colleges is the easiest/hardest to get into? 4) I plan on either going to med school or interior design, or maybe even a more humanities-related subject if I get into Ivy League. But my biggest area is dental medicine. 5) Currently, I’m in the IB system, which guarantees that you will get into most universities without exams (if you finish, of course). If I get an IB Diploma, do I have to take SATs to get into Ivy League? 6) What are other great universities in the United States or United Kingdom, or generally in Europe, that are on the educational level of Ivy League? Hi, The Ivy League consists of the finest institutions known to man. I don't know how your exams work, but the schools are very strict about admissions exams. I think you would have to take at least the SAT, maybe more. IB is not considered much in the Ivy League, it is a usual standard for the students. The schools are very competitive, but your test scores and your unique situation may get you admission. Good luck!

When at the age of thirteen I stepped into a plane heading for America, I had no idea of what lay ahead of me. My parents repeatedly told me that in the United States I would have a better future, and a chance to pursue a fulfilling career. In Poland, I was always a good student, but in America I had to do more than excel at schoolwork. I had to conquer the challenge of learning a new language and assimilating myself to a distinct culture. Fortunately, I was blessed with a caring, motivating family and an education that I learned to love and appreciate. My family always stressed the impact of learning, and the results that a college education can bring. However, I did not decide to go to college because it might grant me prestige or a better financial status. For me, learning is a joy in itself and I think that it celebrates human dignity. Reason makes people commit moral actions, which in turn contribute to peace and order in society as a whole. College so far has shown me how wide the horizons of knowledge really are, and how much more there is still to learn. I have a strong urge to complete my education with a master or a doctoral degree. I exactly remember when I was four years old and my grandmother thought me how to read. It was probably the best gift anyone could give me. Since then I began collecting books and uncovering new realms of imagination. It is mostly my love for reading that made me dream of becoming an English major. I think that if I can become a literature professor and translate this wisdom into others’ lives, then I can shape them into better human beings. What’s more, I would receive enormous satisfaction from constantly teaching and learning. When I volunteered at a kindergarten there was nothing more satisfying to me than seeing a spark of insight on a child’s face. This scholarship would be extremely helpful because my family’s funds are limited.Although my parents received college degrees in Poland, their inability to speak English lowered their chances of getting good jobs. What do do with my spear time?
I am a medical student from Norway, studying in Poland in the second year. This semester I have allot of spear time, something I am not used with. I want to use this time to do something "cool" and interesting. I look at myself as a charismatic person with a wide variety of interests and skills. I have thought of e.g Write some articles and try to have them published, try to do some research about something that interests me, learn a useful skill etc. Generally speaking, doing something which I can have benefits of later in life, personally and in my career. But I cant think of anything yet! Do anyone have a good idea?

I previously posted a question on what to write to my cheating husband of 23 years, most of you said there's really not much to write. I him 6 times,he said it was just emotional, now i found out he was living with a foreign exchange student that he hired from poland for 5 months in our bed at our vacation home where he was opening a restaurant. I spoke with her she admitted all the details(she back in her country)and wants forgiveness because she was only 19 when this happened. I filed for divorce, and I've been vomiting up to 3times per day, they just released me from the hospital with 8 bleeding ulcers, I still feel like crap and he brought me flowers, still won't admit it, how do i live in this house will him for the next 60 days. not only that, he got us into forclusure we lost the other home and he used the money to fund his business. I feel so stupid how do i get the strength to get through this shattered life?

That is a lot to have to deal with. Is there no where else you can stay while you wait for divorce to go through? It is going to be hard to be in the same house with him. If you have to stay, you have to gather yourself up and consciensly put a guard up and refuse to engage him.

I'm not a religious man... but one thing I do believe.. karma is the best revenge. What goes around comes around. Leave him, get yourself healthy and your mind cleared and move on with your life. Sounds like he moved on 23 years ago.

Think of all the things you always wanted to do but couldn't because you had this millstone around your neck. Think - once you're free of him you can get a job and a little place to live - even a studio flat will seem palatial when you're the queen of all you survey. You make all your own choices, eat what you like, clean up when you feel like it (or not) sleep on the sofa if you feel like it, get any pet you want, do whatever you want.... My life shattered too, but now I have a better one because it's all mine!

Cheating is something that goes on a lot everywhere. It is so common that i would probably have to say a lot of men and women who are married do it. I know how you feel. As little girls people learn to have this great wedding and great husband and etc. Well sometimes life throws you a curve ball. In your case it is several curve balls. This is what you need to do. Don't go digging deeper. Just let it be. Sometime it is better not to know than to know. Just leave him and don't ask for additional detail. Just remember you have done nothing wrong. He has to live with this for the rest of his life.

Do you know that the pain you are feeling is due to his deceit and your perception that you are the victim? 2. While it is true that you are the victim, the forgiveness you (and only you) have the power to offer may affect him in a small way. He might be relieved. 3. The truth about forgiveness is that it actually affects and cleanses and purifies the person forgiving. I have felt victimized by deceit - it took me a long time to forgive the person who deceived me. 4. It did not affect her that I held that enmity in my heart; it affected me; it affected my personal relationships with my friends/ my family/ my future girlfriend. 5. It may sound backwards but the sooner you forgive him - the better you will feel and the sooner you can move on. Good luck, strength comes from community - look to your family, and your church. Sharing this story over and over will hurt, but each time you share it will become a little less painful. You may also need to be on a PPI (e.g. Nexium or Prevacid) - talk to an ENT, or a GE Dr.

Im an a esl student and im orginally from poland and im doing my best but just need some help thanks I did an interview to get a little more incite on pediatric nursing. Patricia is 30 years old pediatric nurse she has 3 kids. Patricia says the best work of a nurse is to see that I help to improve the quality of life of children and its family. She have studied many years to specialize in this profession. She quotes “It has been somewhat difficult since there is so much time studying this practice.â€She says the best thing about this job is to see how you save the lives of children. She is so thankful to see that the families are satisfied with my work. Patricia says she hates that she can't stay with her children during special moments because she always get call on her off days. She says it affects her a lot and it is necessary to be prepared for working long hours when you enter this type of work. She quotes “I have to dedicate myself and work long hours sometimes I don't have time to rest or spend with the family and that affects me emotionally†She works 12 hours weekly, If there is an emergency they call her at home to pick up extra hours.She applies the knowledge she learned in school to her work. i did an interview to get a little more insight on pediatric nursing. Patricia is a 30 year old pediatric nurse with 3 children. She says the best part of her work is helping to improve the quality of the life of children and their families.. She studied for many years to specialize in this profession. She says “It has been somewhat difficult since it took so much time studying". She says the best thing about this job is saving the lives of children. She is so thankful to know families are satisfied with her work. Patricia says she hates leaving her own children during special moments because she always get called in on her days-off. She says it affects her a lot but it is necessary to be prepared to work long hours when you enter this type of work. She says “I have to dedicate myself and work long hours. Sometimes I don't have time to rest or to spend with the family and that affects me emotionally†She works 12 (???) hours weekly, If there is an emergency they call her at home to pick up extra hours. She applies the knowledge she learned in school to her work. She learned how to deal with people according to their situation. Patricia says It is necessary to have many skills in many areas. Having emotional strength in difficult cases like a death, supporting and counselling the families and patients, and making difficult decisions at short notice. She says in this profession one must be careful and take care of the well-being of the patient. She makes about $1500 dollars more or less a month depending on if she works part or full time. She says the good aspects of being a nurse is seeing kids and their families happy. The bad aspect is not having a long time to rest and not being with my family on the holidays. Patricia says "when I see ill children and everything that happens it makes me worry as I have children and I hope that they do not have to suffer like the children that I take care of".
