Best country to go to to be an exchange student in europe?

Best country to go to to be an exchange student in europe?
i put down france then the netherlands then belgium but im want to have a place with culture that is pretty different from america they dont have italy, spain, portugal and some other places they do have: poland, denmark, germany, the netherland, france, belgium and i might be forgetting one i would love to go to italy but cant so i think the next best place would be france is france really different? or should i pick somewhere else i also want to learn french because i think it would be the most usefull of languages please keep in mind i dont want south america because that is where i am from and no asian countries although i would love to go in the future thanks for your input!

google all the different places and read about them and decide which one you think would be more fun to be in.

First of all, it depends what you like more in a country. I think every country in Europe has it's qualities and it's disadvantages. It also depends from the exchange association. Going through one organization in one country doesn't mean that you will have the same benefits as going through another (the same applies for parts of the same country). Ok, by my opinion, you shouldn't be focused to developed countries. I think you can discover more about Europe if you go to one of the not so famous destinations. Although in a developed country you will have an organized way of living through the services provided by the country, the other countries compensate with the warmth of the people and an open mind to take you to interesting destinations. The same applies to towns and cities. In a city you will have a bunch of activities that you can choose from, so mostly people go to different places and they don't get to close to each other (I am talking of the group that will be in your exchange program). But in a town there will be a bundle of activities and you will mostly share your time with the bunch of people in your exchange program. That will make you closer. I speak from my experience. If you are thinking about a developed country I would say Germany, Netherlands. If you choose these destinations, keep in mind that you always have low fare plane tickets that you can book early and go to the opposite part of Europe (like Italy for instance :) ). If you choose an alternative tourism, embrace yourself for an amazing experience. You will meet one of the best organized people that will take you to parties and places every weekend. Of course that you can organize a trip on your own. In these countries usually your money will "worth" more (you could buy more stuff with the same amount that you bring from home, also the services are cheaper). My experience was through the IAESTE organization. If you have the option you can go to Macedonia (the Former Yugoslav Republic of), or Poland would be a nice destination. Hope this helped!

So, your Top 3 = France, the Netherlands, Belgium. I live in Belgium ^^. Just in between your 2 favorite countries and in your third favorite. 'Is France really different from South-America?' I haven't really had any experience with South-America yet... But personally I think that France is a fantastic country. The people are friendly and as you mentioned; the language is indeed very useful. In Belgium there are 3 communities: one of them is French-speaking. I live in the Dutch-speaking community but I got French lessons at school since I was 10 years old. So I pretty much know how to speak it (I'm a lot better in it than in English ). And French is a quite important language... Since I can't compare South-America with Fr, Be or the Nl. I'm going to compare the 3 countries mutual. France is a little more the southern way of life. (We'll do it, but we can still do it tomorrow.) The people are nice and everything is 'typical'. Personally, I really like it. I like the Netherlands less because generally speaking they're quite loud people, party type... I don't want to insult anyone, this is just my opinion and how I got to know them a couple of times. Then, euhm, Belgium. Yes, we're usually a little more polite. We have a really small country. Our education is one of the best in the world (unfortunately for me: that means that I have to work hard for school ^^) . We don't have a lot of place left to build in our country (in France you can drive a couple of hours without seeing anyone). Belgium is the country of the chocolate and the waffles. (No intention to bribe you) That's about it, I guess. I would say that the country, the closest to your expectations is indeed France. Afterwards I would consider Belgium. Because the people ('the nation') isn't that different, I think. Good luck choosing. x

cheap flight tickets for US college student backpack in Europe?
i am planning to back from New York to Europe in summer 2008. I heard about Eastjet and Ryanair. Is it really the price shown online? I always see 10 euro from Spain to UK from ryanair.com. Is there any surchange over those prices? I just have a backpack and,,maybe a handcarry.And, can I book the ticket with USA credit card? I will fly from NY to Amsterdam first. My destinations on my plan are Finland, Poland, Belguim, Norway, ,,and I hope that I could take the ferry from Spain to Morocco. But all destinations above are subject to change for the flight tickets.

When it comes to low cost airlines, you have to be very careful when it comes to prices. I flew with Easyjet and Germanwings and they had a surcharge on the first price they show you. But still, it's cheaper then flying with regular companies. Once you decide for a flight they show you all the additional charges and give you the final amount you have to pay. They take most of the credit cards and I think it doesn't matter where the credit card was issued. The baggage: hand baggage 5 kilos and checked baggage is one piece of luggage up to 20 kilos. Questions about People to People Student Ambassador?

Questions about People to People Student Ambassador?
This is my second year being offered to go on a People to People trip. I wasnt able to go on the first trip offered due to personal reasons. But this time if accepted i will be traveling to Russia, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic and Poland. i was wondering if anyone could tell me about this trip or any others? Is it worth my time? Is the interview/getting accepted part hard? Are good teacher and personal recommendations a big part of being accepted? and any fundraising ideas if i'm accepted because this trip is almost $6,000 and i will have to pay with little to no help from my parents.

I didn't go on that trip, but I'm sure it would be worth it. The interview is not hard at all. They are just trying to get to know you. I'm not sure how much the interview and recommendations affect your chances of being accepted. I've never met anybody that wasn't accepted. and you can get a part-time job to raise money. have garage sales, have people sponsor you, or you can get a loan through people to people.

i'm going as an exchange student to poland...i have never traveled alone so far, i live in mexico, what tips can you give me? how do i change planes? where do i change currency? how do i call home?

Oh how nice, a new adventure! You should receive a flight itinerary - a detailed plan flight plan. It will show each time you changed planes and where. May also be announced on your flight and seen on the many airport arrival / departure screens. Use your itinerary to match your flight to the correct gate, then follow the alpha-numeric signs to the corresponding gate. Use the extra time before your first flight, to check out the arrival / departure screens and where they lead. It is the same system world-wide. Changing money at the overseas bank will give you the best return. Detailed answers at http://www.gocurrency.com/travelers-tips.htm. Good stuff there. Telephone calls home require a country code. Poland is 48. For Mexico the code is 52. Example; in the London I have to use 00 to dial out. The US country code is 1, so I'll dial 00-1-yyy-xxx-xxxx. (y=area code). The main thing I would recommend is taking the little things that make your more comfortable, that we all take for granted. Except for AC powered gadgets. Skiing in Zakopane, Poland during March 2009.?

Skiing in Zakopane, Poland during March 2009.?
Hi! I am planning a trip this month for 5 days in Zakopane. I have heard it is very cheap and still pretty good skiing for beginner-intermediate skiers/snow boarders. Is this true? What is it like there, especially at this time of year? Is there anywhere else better in Eatern Europe, relative to the price? I am a student, so I just want to have a good time skiing during the days, and then have some drinks in the evenings with other fun people! Also want lots of snow, and i heard they lines for lifts are not so good...why is that? Can anyone recommend which ski runs are the best? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

It is cheap, now with the foreign exchange rates in favor of euros and dollars. But plenty of snow cannot be guaranteed...

usually, school kids in poland have their winter break in late feb. my cousins usually go skiing in bialka tatrczanska which is near zakopane but a smaller town so the skiing will be cheaper. i actually go to that area every year in the summer and occasionally in the winter to ski. they have good slopes for beginners and nice small cheap restaurants. you can rent a room from a family that has a huge house and they can even cook for you guys if you want. the lifts are like plates stuck on a pole they put the plate behind your butt and you stand with the skis on yur feet while you are pulled up the mountain. also when you find a place to stay, you can ask the people where they recommend you to go because they know the area more accurately

What should I bring on my trip to Poland and Israel?
I am going on a 2 week long trip, 1 week in poland and 1 in Israel. The only time I have been out of the country was to go to Canada and the longest I have been away from my parents was a week. I am going on a trip with students from many schools who I don't know and I will be riding on buses and rooming with. What do you think I should know before going off on this adventure. Is there anything I must bring or any advice for making new friends when everyone seems to already know each other and I'm the odd one out. I am very nervous but at the same time excited. HELP!!!

this is a must and all ill say KEEP EVERYTHING THAT VALUEABLE BESIDE U AT ALL TIMES NO MATTER WHAT...u dont no these kids they could b crooks so be smart and keep it close
