Oh how nice, a new adventure! You should receive a flight itinerary - a detailed plan flight plan. It will show each time you changed planes and where. May also be announced on your flight and seen on the many airport arrival / departure screens. Use your itinerary to match your flight to the correct gate, then follow the alpha-numeric signs to the corresponding gate. Use the extra time before your first flight, to check out the arrival / departure screens and where they lead. It is the same system world-wide. Changing money at the overseas bank will give you the best return. Detailed answers at http://www.gocurrency.com/travelers-tips.htm. Good stuff there. Telephone calls home require a country code. Poland is 48. For Mexico the code is 52. Example; in the London I have to use 00 to dial out. The US country code is 1, so I'll dial 00-1-yyy-xxx-xxxx. (y=area code). The main thing I would recommend is taking the little things that make your more comfortable, that we all take for granted. Except for AC powered gadgets. Most power in Europe is 220 VAC, with way different plugs. Enjoy your trip.

Skiing in Zakopane, Poland during March 2009.?

Skiing in Zakopane, Poland during March 2009.?
Hi! I am planning a trip this month for 5 days in Zakopane. I have heard it is very cheap and still pretty good skiing for beginner-intermediate skiers/snow boarders. Is this true? What is it like there, especially at this time of year? Is there anywhere else better in Eatern Europe, relative to the price? I am a student, so I just want to have a good time skiing during the days, and then have some drinks in the evenings with other fun people! Also want lots of snow, and i heard they lines for lifts are not so good...why is that? Can anyone recommend which ski runs are the best? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

yes

It is cheap, now with the foreign exchange rates in favor of euros and dollars. But plenty of snow cannot be guaranteed...
3 :
usually, school kids in poland have their winter break in late feb. my cousins usually go skiing in bialka tatrczanska which is near zakopane but a smaller town so the skiing will be cheaper. i actually go to that area every year in the summer and occasionally in the winter to ski. they have good slopes for beginners and nice small cheap restaurants. you can rent a room from a family that has a huge house and they can even cook for you guys if you want. the lifts are like plates stuck on a pole they put the plate behind your butt and you stand with the skis on yur feet while you are pulled up the mountain. also when you find a place to stay, you can ask the people where they recommend you to go because they know the area more accurately

What should I bring on my trip to Poland and Israel?

What should I bring on my trip to Poland and Israel?
I am going on a 2 week long trip, 1 week in poland and 1 in Israel. The only time I have been out of the country was to go to Canada and the longest I have been away from my parents was a week. I am going on a trip with students from many schools who I don't know and I will be riding on buses and rooming with. What do you think I should know before going off on this adventure. Is there anything I must bring or any advice for making new friends when everyone seems to already know each other and I'm the odd one out. I am very nervous but at the same time excited. HELP!!!

Where are good places to live & work in Europe for English speakers?

Where are good places to live & work in Europe for English speakers?
I am hoping to get a job somewhere in Europe =) always been a dream of mine! I was born in Poland, moved to Canada as a kid. I am getting a teacher's license...and hopefully a deaf education certificate (I want to become a teacher for deaf/hard of hearing students or overall a primary/junior teacher)...my husband is a medical technologist. any good European countries? THnks!

The UK, Ireland, Gibraltar. Three English speaking places. For the rest, you need to know the local language if you want to teach English. As for deaf education, if you sign ASL you will probably need to learn BSL if you go to UK, and local sign language for other countries Same thing for your husband, many countries (there's 42 countries in Europe) require a local medical degree, and fluency in the local language.
2 :
All the english countries. And The Netherlands could be good too. Everyone speaks english. I live in Amsterdam and some people here don't even speak dutch. They just speak english. I'm not sure if you could teacher for deaf kids but there are some international schools here where you could teach. And they also have something called TTO. If you go to a TTO school you don't go to an international school but you have all your classes in englisg. Except dutch class I guess.

Is the US still a first world nation...?

Is the US still a first world nation...?
I am a student from Poland. I am currently researching for my politics thesis. The question I must ask you is this: Do you consider the US to be a first wold nation even though it has a black president, or do you now consider America to be third world? Any help will be appreciate!

So Poland is still racist then?
2 :
Of course it's a first world nation, who the hell would think it a third world nation because of the president?
3 :
Haha, the race of the president has nothing to do with the first-world, third-world classification. To answer your question more specifically, the coasts are first-world and the middle of the country is third-world.
4 :
Yes, but barely anymore. If China calls in its debt, we are done.
5 :
Lol.
6 :
Well technically it is not a first world nation, because that is not the accepted term anymore! Technically it is a More Economically Developed Country (MEDC) :)
7 :
the color of the president has nothing to do with whether or not a nation is considered to be a first world country.
8 :
for the moment, we are still first world. wait until BHO's first term to be over before we officially turn into a third world country.
9 :
Hi Jennifer. The skin color of the president does not determine the economic status of the nation. The US is still the richest nation on earth with the highest standard of living. That said, a few years ago I returned to southern California after many, many years abroad. Much of Los Angeles certainly looks like a third world country now - all the illegal immigrants seem to have trashed the place! My family had warned me, but I didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Heartbreaking, really heartbreaking.
10 :
Still 1st world, but we have a government that is doing everything possible to change that. We are heading in the direction of the USSR. Government control of everything. Then we'll be a 3 rd world nation of poor people.
11 :
In regards to technology, scientific research, education, value of currency, etc, the US is still regarded as a first world nation, however since the end of January 2009, we have been on a downhill slide and it is getting worse. That is what happens when a leader is not qualified for the position.
12 :
I am really beginning to wonder.
13 :
At the moment it is still a World power, will it remain so over the next three years, it is very questionable. But you must understand it has NOTHING to do with the fact a black man is the President, it has ALL to do with his policies and ideals and would make no difference if he was white and had the same beliefs.
14 :
Just because a country or territory has a "Black" president/leader does not make it a Third World country. The term Third World arose during the Cold War to define countries that remained non-aligned or neutral with either capitalism and NATO (which along with its allies represented the First World) or communism and the Soviet Union (which along with its allies represented the Second World). So you can thank the USSR for occupying Poland during WWII and keeping it from becoming a "Third-World" country. And by the way, the US will never be a Third-World, no matter how economically depressed it gets.
15 :
Since there is a Black in the presidency, it is below Mexico now. Mexico is Second world i think.
16 :
It is at the moment but fast rushing to third world status.

Good music for international foreign exchange party?

Good music for international foreign exchange party?
I am hosting a party for all of the foreign exchange students in my high school. I am responsible for providing the music, and am wondering what songs besides the popular music here from America I should play...any top songs from the countries Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany, and France are what I am looking for. I know that most of the songs from the US are popular in other countries too, but I am looking for songs either in their language or just not American. Thanks, and any other fun ideas would be a help too!

Those "mind changers" really only exist on Y!A and not in real life. No one would pay tuition fees, flight tickets, accomoddation in Switzerland and then just change her/his mind. You need to get back home to apply for new student visa from the Polish Embassy. http://bazateleadresowa.poland.gov.pl/?document=21 ..
2 :
You cannot go to another country as you wish, if you were accepted in Switzerland ? You need to start the process all over again from your home country.
