NY student teaching english in Poland?

NY student teaching english in Poland?
I am a 20 year old student living in NY, but i am of Polish decent, and all my family and relatives live in PL. My grandpa said he'd be able to get me a job teaching English over the Summer in Poland, however, I dont even speak Polish. Do you think he's right, that id be able to get a job teaching english without speaking the native language? And also, if i were to get a job there, do you think itd be worth it, or is the polish currency much lower that US, where i wouldnt make too much when i turn it into US money?

According to EU laws, you would need to be an EU national to live and work in any EU country, and this includes Poland. By law, any Polish employer must prove that they cannot find a suitably qualified candidate for the job in order for the authorities to grant a non-EU national - someone like you - the necessary visa. And the two countries where English is spoken are the UK and Ireland, but EU countries, so .... I'm afraid the Polish ancestry thing means diddly squat, dear. Sorry. Anyway, given that you don't speak the local language, you'll probably be regarded as American, not Polish. You'll be an outsider. I think you'd be better off going to Asia where you everyone has the same chance of getting work permits, and where the money is better.

I've just got my MS in Hospitality Management in Poland. I would like to know what countries...?


I've just got my MS in Hospitality Management in Poland. I would like to know what countries...?
I am eligible to apply for internship or training visa considering this that I am not a EU citizen. As far as I know some countries just give such oppurtunity to EU students.

Anyone been to Krakow Poland recently? Is it still pretty cheap?

Anyone been to Krakow Poland recently? Is it still pretty cheap?
Taking a trip to Krakow at the end of May, everything is booked i.e flights, transfers, accomodation but I am just wondering how much spending money would I need. Trying to keep the holiday fairly budget as we are students. Any recommendations of places to visit, restaurants and clubs etc? Also what is the price of food in restaurants etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Last time I was in Krakow was 4 years ago, I am sure the prices went up since, but because Poland did not switched to Euro yet, the buying power of US dollars, British Pound and Euro is strong and you can get good value deals. Visit the town square, Vavel castle, just get a tourist map and follow the recommendation. If you have a chance to see Wieliczka, just outside Krakow, it is amazing. It is a salt mine, deep in the ground and everything there is made of salt, from chandeliers to statues. There is a lot to see there. Clubs are every where, just ask young people, most of them speak English. The food is great and many beautiful women. Have fun!

Can you give me good suggestions for a gift?
I'm from the Philippines and I have a 23-year old male friend from Åšwiecie, Poland who I would like mail a surprise gift to. He's a tourism student there, and I'm thinking of giving him maybe a tourism book with lots of photos featuring our country. I'm also thinking of locally made native charm jewelry for him, but I think Polish men wear minimal baubles in public. He can already afford all of those gadgets, so I'm thinking of things that are a little less technological but unique and uncommon in Poland. What other unique gifts could you suggest?

Student districts in Cardiff?

Student districts in Cardiff?
Hi, I am from Poland and will be studying this year in Cardiff University. I am looking for a flat, but not sure which district will be the best. Are there any student districts in Cardiff or places good for students?

If your studying in Cardiff university there are some student districts. The best places would be Cathays and Roath, these are the main student areas and are very close to the university. Gabalfa and Bichgrove areas would also be ok but I recomend Cathays and Roath.

That would be amzing. My grandparents are from Poland and my family is the biggest group of Pollocks ever!! It's very fun. I have never actually been over there, but that would be amazing. Good Luck!

You will love the city. Gdynia is a part of what we, the Poles, are calling Tricity - the region that has 3 parts, the 3 towns: Gdansk, Gdynia & Sopot. A lots of beautiful forests, beaches and... go, find out for yourself.

Well, you'll have to go there and see it. A hint - if you want precise answers, ask detailed questions :) As for Threecity - it's seaside, so wheather can be, umm... difficult. Gdynia itself is a city without very long tradition (it was started in 1920's), but you can always take a suburban train to Gdansk, if you want anything "old". I'd say it's a fine place for studying..

YES! It's a very amazing expreience to go there. I'm 100% Polish and most of my family lives there. Its fun, you meet new people, and it's really difrent there! I love it there Enjoy it!

Gdynia is an amazing place. I have been there once. It is on a North side of Poland. I came from the West Poland. Good luck:)

What do travelers look for in their travel bags?
I am a student in Malaysia and i was assigned to create a marketing strategy plan. My product is a bag [any bag, but I'm thinking of travel bag] and the plan is to sell the product overseas. My choice of countries are France, Germany, UK, Poland, Sweden, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Australia. Which country do you think is the best to choose to sell the product and what do you think my travel bag should have for it to stand out from other travel bags?

When I buy a replacement travel bag I look for the following: Durability - Airlines apparently drag your luggage to the plane now, then run it over with the plane. At least that is the way it looks when it pops out of the baggage return caruosel. Organization - You live out of that bag while you are on a trip, having lots of storgage compartments that are easily accessible is a must. How about a series of zippable dividers in the main compartment to separate pants,shirts, dirty clothes etc... Visability - Nearly everyhone has a black rectangular roller pack these days. A lot of people have resorted to putting paint, tape etc, on the bags so they can see them on the carousel. Consider having a bold design emblem on the bag that really stands out. Or, better yet offer a line of replacable zip on/zip off front panels that people can buy to make their bag unique. (the large front bottom panel could be removed and replaced with a standardized panel that would be different colours, patterns, or even personalized designs)

Light weight, durable, and no wasted space on the inside (some bags have support structure that cut back on usable space inside). Preferably sized to allow carry-on, but for some trips checked bags are necessary. I'm not sure there's much you can do with a bag that someone hasn't already included in a design. A lot of people use tape, ribbons, or some other marking to make their bags more identifiable on the luggage carousels - you could do something with a see through pocket on the outside where some custom labeling could be placed to allow the bag to be identified. You would need something on both sides though.
